Weight Watchers Update #2
Well, my weigh-in is over and my weight loss for the week is 1.0 lbs.
At first I was disappointed.. I was sure it would be more this week. But, my WW buddies tell me any movement in the right direction is to be celebrated!

I'm also aware that as we lose weight and build muscle, we could very well be losing fat and gaining muscle, but this doesn't really show up on the scale. My clothes are all fitting much better so I'll conclude I'm getting smaller by the day!
Total weight loss to date = 4.8 lbs...
That's music to my ears!
Talk soon...

Another weigh in tomorrow...
Of course, I'm fasting today!
Just kidding... this week, week two in weight watchers, my goal has been to track my meals everyday. In reviewing my efforts I see that I've managed to track for six of the seven days. Not bad...
Tonight my mission will be to find another "light weight" outfit for work tomorrow... hehe... hope it's not cold!
Another effort for my weight loss (and money savings) is my commuting on the bus / train. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this considering the time investment I have to make. But to date for the month of April, I've saved over $200 in gas compared to last month's budget... and that is WITH the cost of the $90 monthly pass for the bus / train! It feels good to know I'm doing my part to use less gas. What are YOU doing to save gas? The commuting has me walking quite a bit, as well, so there is added benefit in the exercise it provides, especially when I see the bus coming and I still have another block to go! Run, Kristin, run...
I'll be sure to post a weight watchers update #2 tomorrow with my weigh-in results so stay tuned!
Until then...

Happy Birthday, Joseph!
Happy Birthday to Joseph, my youngest child. He is fourteen today and growing up way too fast. He's a fine young man as this picture obviously proves! :)

Weight Watchers Update #1
Today was my first weigh-in at weight watchers. I joined last week at work and had my official "starting weight" taken at that time. Now after one week of following the program, I went back for my first week's weigh-in.
I made sure to wear the lightest clothes in my closet. Pretty silly considering it was freezing today in Silicon Valley! The sunshine can fool you -- it was a beautiful, sunny day, but the wind was as cold as an ice cube!

Anyway - I went to my meeting thinking I was not going to lose much. I had a BIG dinner last night out and figured whatever progress I'd made during the week had been lost.
But I was wrong! I was thrilled with a 3.8 lb loss and am now that much more encouraged for this week's challenges. Just goes to show that even when we aren't expecting much, big results can happen.
Speaking of results, I've been able to get one of my fiction collections uploaded to the site here. This one comes from a recent Fiction Workshop I took online. Take a look and email me your thoughts on the pieces.
Talk soon...

Introducing www.kristincohn.com
Hello, World! Today is the first official day of my website, http://kristincohn.com.
Fittingly, today is also the tenth anniversary of when my husband and I met online. That seemingly innocent event changed both our lives. Astonishing, when you consider th
e odds of it happening
at all. In the real world and the virtual world, timing is everything. And with that, my virtual existence begins.
Along with the new website, there is a new mailing list, Off Topic. I hope to share in this occasional mailing list ideas and information, as well as updates to the site. Be sure to subscribe!
Finally, I've added my favorite "self portrait" taken with the built-in camera of an iMac. I've always loved how the sun rays were captured! That's all for now... Talk soon!
